JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Day Treatment Qualified Professional (QP) at the Akachi Solution LLC provides mental health interventions in the context of an alternative school setting. The position is for someone who has passion about student academic achievement but knows that mental wellness is a prerequisite for academic performance. The prospective candidate for this position is one who has a clear plan for what he or she wants to accomplish in each lesson, but knows that the students’ behaviors on a particular day may derail that plan, and he or she rolls with it without getting frustrated and in spite of challenges treats students with dignity and respect. The candidate is able to respond to challenging behavior by working with the student to solve the problem than administering a disciplinary consequence. The candidate is comfortable with teaching role in an environment where the primary focus is on mental health, not academic growth.
COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, you must demonstrate the following competencies: Fundamental knowledge of the
MH/IDD/SA
Programs Service Definition(s), as published by the Division of Medical Assistance, as well as the Clinical Model utilized by Evidenced Based Practices. a. Knowledge of child and/or adolescent development. b. Ability to diffuse critical situations using least restrictive behavioral intervention skills c. Ability to design and implement positive behavioral support plans. d. Ability to design and provide educational instruction to address a student’s social, psychological, educational, and vocational needs. f. Ability to develop the instructional program to include, at a minimum, a curriculum that accommodates students according to their needs; appropriate sequences of activities designed to facilitate learning; in an environment which provides positive behavioral supports; and the provision of a social skills component. g. Strong content knowledge in core academic subjects h. Ability to differentiate planning and instruction at the group and individual level, and to manage students during small group work
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting mastery of students’ individualized academic and treatment plan goals Planning for and delivering on-level, common core instruction to students in the four core content areas Designing a classroom structure that facilitates differentiated instruction and small group and individual work Engaging in regular progress monitoring and adjusting instruction in response to data Supporting program-wide behavior management system and reflecting program philosophy of positive behavioral supports Communicating with students’ parents or guardians and sending schools to share academic data and progress Collaborating with students’ sending schools to ensure IEP and other academic records remain current Maintaining all required documentation and paperwork Actively engaging in regular professional development Effective and prompt management of behavioral challenges in classroom Complete daily progress notes that measure the student’s progress towards their goals. Attend Team treatment meetings to monitor the student’s progress with treatment goals Complete NCTOPPS for each student including initial, update and discharge Complete Person Centered Plan for each student including initial, update and discharge Complete quarterly academic reviews and weekly behavior review charts. Adhere to a daily schedule and points system
