IBHS Lead Psychotherapist Employer:

Wilmington, NC Objective The IBHS Lead Psychotherapist will provide Integrated Behavioral Health System (IBHS) services to North Carolina Reserve Component Service members and their families. This role is responsible for clinical assessment, crisis intervention, therapeutic support, case management, and the allocation of behavioral health resources at the federal, state, and community levels. Background This position supports the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) and other Reserve Components by delivering behavioral health services as part of the NCNG Integrated Behavioral Health System (IBHS). The IBHS Help Line serves as the primary entry point for professional intervention, assessment, and connection to internal and external resources.

Key Responsibilities Daily Duties:

Manage a normal caseload of approximately 15-20 clients in IBHS psychotherapy services. Provide oversight and supervision for all clinical and non-clinical counselors. Maintain case records per state, federal, NCNG SOP, and APA documentation standards. Ensure compliance with Army Regulation (AR) 40-66, AFI 41-210, and DoDI 6490.08 guidelines. Supervise screening, evaluation, and referral processes to ensure appropriate treatment plans. Conduct case audits to validate treatment fidelity and adherence to best practices.

Bi-Monthly & Monthly Duties:

Facilitate bi-monthly Psychotherapist Team meetings to ensure clinical alignment. Lead monthly Health & Wellness Team meetings to address program goals. Perform standardized chart reviews for all team members (excluding IBHS Coordinator/Director).

As-Needed Duties:

Conduct Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) briefings for NCNG personnel. Report behavioral health metrics to the G1, COR, and IBHS Director, highlighting trends that require command attention. Develop and maintain a Network of Agencies and Organizations to provide referral resources for Service members and families. Coordinate with medical, behavioral health advocates, and federal/state/local agencies to improve mental health support. Partner with internal NCNG programs, including Substance Abuse Program (SAP), Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Program (SHARP), Resilience Risk Reduction Suicide Prevention (R3SP), Yellow Ribbon Program, Casualty Operations, and Survivor Outreach Services (SOS).

Additional Responsibilities:

Ensure all activities comply with Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations. Provide Service Members consultations and behavioral health care through Military Treatment Facilities (MTF), VA, TRICARE, and non-network providers. Document all cases in the IBHS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) using MS Teams Closed Channel. Participate in

continuous education training to ensure adherence to evolving treatment models. Provide 24/7 IBHS Hotline support as scheduled. Qualifications Master’s Degree in behavioral health or social science field. Minimum three (3) years post-licensure clinical experience in individual, couple, family, mental health, and workplace/domestic violence counseling. Expertise in psychopathology, psychosocial dynamics, and crisis intervention. Strong understanding of military behavioral health resources and protocols. Ability to lead, supervise, and manage clinical teams effectively.
