Full Job Description Overview:
The Behavioral Health Provisional Clinician is responsible for the provision of mental health and substance use services at WakeMed. The BHPC is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, diagnosing patients using DSM-5, ICD10-codes and determining disposition under the supervision of an approved licensed clinician. Focuses on diagnostic and functional evaluations, safety assessments, patient engagement and or support system effectiveness. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team including Licensed behavioral health clinicians, physicians, psychiatry, and psychology staff decides and communicates disposition and level of care. This includes facilitating voluntary and involuntary commitments as directed by the physician. Assists with diagnostic clarification, post-discharge treatment recommendation, identification of treatment options, high-risk behavior mitigation and prevention planning. Advises patient, family, and responsible medical providers, as needed, to improve quality and continuum of care. Participates in hospital and community initiatives that address mental health and substance use issues. Maintains a working knowledge of relevant behavioral health, medical, legal issues that impact patients and the hospital system. Documents assessment, dispositions, interactions conversations etc. according to department guidelines and standards. Will work independently, but will have cases reviewed by an approved licensed clinician. Will prioritize and manage time efficiently. Flexibility in accepting diverse work assignments and managing stress related to change and the ability to resolve mange conflict.
