Job Description

Correctional Behavioral Specialist – CPHC 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Wake County, NC Description of Work This position is a Correctional Behavioral Specialist I (CBS I) based in the Therapeutic Diversion Unit (TDU) of the Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh. Central Prison houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders, while the TDU is a specialized treatment program with 24 beds. This position reports directly to the Psychological Services Coordinator for the TDU. The Correctional Behavioral Specialist I is responsible for participation as an active member of the treatment team with considerable responsibility for a supportive role for the implementation of treatment plans for offenders with mental health disorders, serious mental illness, complex behavioral disorders, co-occurring disorders, intellectual disabilities and/or dementia or other neurocognitive impairment. Behavior Specialists are fundamental liaisons with the treatment team regarding offender programs and progress. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to; Observe and report current functioning of offenders assigned to the TDU as it relates to specific treatment objectives; Facilitate psycho-educational groups and programming on the unit and document appropriately; Participate with the treatment team to determine offender progress and treatment goals; Assist clients with specialized behavioral plans on goals including hygiene and group assignments; Being an aid/mental health representative for clients in the initial stages of the disciplinary process; Assist other behavioral health staff members with ordering/tracking inventory for incentives Other duties as assigned or delegated.
