Raleigh, NC; Fayetville, NC; Charlotte, NC; High Point, NC; Asheville, NC Objective The IBHS Psychotherapist will provide Integrated Behavioral Health System (IBHS) services to North Carolina Reserve Component Service members and their families. This position is responsible for clinical assessment, crisis intervention, therapeutic support, case management, and coordination with internal and external behavioral health resources. Background This role supports the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) and other Reserve Components by delivering behavioral health services as part of the NCNG Integrated Behavioral Health System (IBHS). The IBHS Help Line serves as the primary portal for crisis intervention, assessment, and connection to resources.
Key Responsibilities General Duties:
Deliver licensed psychotherapist services to eligible clients, including psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and case management. Provide evidence-based treatments for trauma (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy). Conduct clinical evaluations, triage, diagnoses, and treatment planning for clients. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the IBHS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) via MS Teams Closed Channel. Ensure compliance with Privacy Act, HIPAA regulations, and professional ethics at all times. Facilitate transitional care for eligible clients to ensure continued support. Provide consultation services to NCNG command leadership on treatment, referrals, and available behavioral health resources.
Daily Duties:
Draft and analyze clinical reports to identify behavioral health trends. Establish internal and external support networks for Service members. Conduct follow-up services to ensure long-term care effectiveness.
Scheduled & Periodic Duties:
Monthly:
Conduct visits to NCNG facilities to promote available IBHS services.
Quarterly:
Provide Critical Incident Stress Debriefings upon request.
Quarterly:
Submit bio-psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and other reports to the
COR, IBHS
Lead Psychotherapist, and IBHS Director.
As Needed:
Deliver Psycho-Education Briefings at Yellow Ribbon events, Unit Briefings, and Military Funeral Honors.
As Needed:
Mentor newly onboarded IBHS employees under the IBHS Individual Training Program (ITP) SOP (six-month mentorship).
As Needed:
Act as a liaison between NCNG leadership and outside behavioral health services. Qualifications Master’s Degree in behavioral health or social science field. Minimum three (3) years post-licensure clinical experience in individual, couple, family, mental health, and workplace/domestic violence counseling. Strong knowledge of psychopathology, psychosocial dynamics, and crisis intervention techniques. Familiarity with military behavioral health frameworks, terminology, and support structures. Work Conditions & Availability Psychotherapists may be required to travel up to 25% of the time for on-site visits and debriefings. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 07:00-17:30, with occasional weekend availability for Drilling Units and NCNG-related events. The IBHS Hotline operates 24/7, and staff members provide coverage as scheduled.
