Certified Peer Support Specialist Capturing Hearts, LLC Goldsboro, NC Overview The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. This position is designed for those who have personal experience with recovery and are passionate about helping others navigate their own journeys. The Certified Peer Specialist will utilize their lived experiences to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to clients, fostering a sense of hope and empowerment. Duties Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Facilitate group sessions that promote sharing, learning, and growth among peers. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans that align with their goals. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavior change. Offer crisis intervention and management support as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create a comprehensive support system for clients. Advocate for clients within various systems, including healthcare, housing, and employment services. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies. Skills Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices. Experience in mentoring individuals through their recovery process. Proficient in crisis intervention strategies and crisis management techniques. Knowledge of addiction counseling methods and mental health counseling practices. Familiarity with social work principles and community resources available for clients. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with clients and team members. Ability to build rapport with diverse populations and foster a supportive environment.
