We are currently seeking to hire a Resident Mentor.
Purpose:
The Resident Mentor is responsible for building a recovery community within the recovery residence, acting as a peer for all residents. The Resident Mentor is responsible for being a familiar first resource for resident’s questions and enforcing the residence guidelines and rules.
Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate resident’s participation in daily activities: wake-up, chores, meal preparation and participation, laundry, care of personal space, care of personal hygiene, time management, use of down-time, bed-time and other activities involving living skills. Transport residents, in a safe manner, to and from scheduled activities and appointments Observe, monitor, intervene upon, and document resident interactions and behaviors. Utilize Recovery Residence policies, resident schedules, and resident individual schedules as guides for appropriate intervention. Document all significant resident behaviors, utilizing appropriate forms in EMR. Interact with residents in an approachable, empathetic, supportive, and respectful manner at all times. This includes when intervening on resident behavior or when resident is disrespectful in return. Interact with individual residents while maintaining active awareness of all the other residents in the Recovery Residence. Use reasonable timeframes to guide individual staff-resident interactions in order to avoid over-focus on one client (typically, individual interactions will not last longer than 15 minutes). Maintain appropriate boundaries (i.e., avoid the friendship, therapist, nutritionist, advice-giver, romantic partner, or sponsor roles). Facilitate new residents move-in to the Recovery Residence as well as their orientation to the residence guidelines. Document orientation in shift report Facilitate move-out of the resident, insuring all personal items have been gathered by the resident, remove all bedding, linens and other items to prepare living space for new resident. Document move-out of all residents in EMR and other required means of communication to Recovery Residence staff. Read all written communications from Recovery Residence staff including e-mails, memos and postings. Maintain active awareness of resident’s locations and what activities in which they are engaged at all times. Reporting safety/risk issues immediately to the Resident Mentor Supervisor to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and residents Completion of incident reports, as necessary Conduct Waived Tests according to UDS schedule and policy and procedures Conduct other tasks as assigned This is a full-time position with benefits (401K with match, medical, dental, vision) that may include evening hours.
