Job Responsibilities
With our Agency’s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is with the Department of Mental Health, Beckman Center for Mental Health Services. This position will be based at the Abbeville Mental Health Clinic, 101 Commercial Drive, Abbeville, SC 29620, providing services throughout Beckman’s catchment area. Under general supervision, position provides treatment service to Veterans, their spouses, children, adolescents and family.
Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I (Certified community behavioral health clinic) include but are not limited to:
1. Provides mental health services in a culturally competent manner which will include but not be limited to assessment, crisis management, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy to adults who are Veterans or members of the Armed Forces who are diagnosed with a mental illness and their family members and individuals who have experienced significant trauma. Formulates patient and family centered plans of care and maintains accurate medical records, ensuring that documentation is in compliance with DMH and Center Quality Assurance Standards.
2. Maintains medical records documentation standards in accordance with all QA, DMH and CARF policies and procedures. 3.Ensure each patient has a LOC established and updated quarterly and is treated at the frequency recommended. 4. Provides outreach to the local Veteran’s Affairs Offices and other affiliated entities. 5. Participates in the Center’s emergency/crisis services by providing telephonic and/or face-to-face contact, to include screenings, assessments of persons for possible hospitalization with the Veterans and members of the Armed Forces.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:

A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Must qualify for credentialing and privileging in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by DMH Office of Quality Management
