QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid license from the SC Licensing Board of Examiner for Licensure of Professional Counselors or Marriage and Family Therapists. Masters of Arts, or Master of Education from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three years experience in working with at-risk students, parents/guardians and community agencies.
Experience working effectively with public agencies regarding services for at-risk students/families.
Experience working with students in need of mental health services in a school setting.
Experience working with students who require special education services.
Experience developing and delivering professional development.
Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
Developed various individual, family, and group counseling techniques. Completes job-related tasks without constant supervision
Understands the importance of professionalism and confidentiality

REPORTS TO

Executive Director of Special Education Services

JOB GOAL

To provide comprehensive school mental health services to parents, ,students and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student from receiving full benefit from their educational experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides direct clinical services to children, adolescents and their families in the clinic/school setting. Provides assessments and crisis management, as well as individual, group and family therapy as needed. Ensures documentation of all services provided following established standards.
Develops support groups for students as needed.
Participates in weekly team staffing with other mental health professionals and social workers as the well as director.
Provides complete and timely documentation to support services rendered.
Creates and implements treatment plans that are developmentally appropriate, strength-based, skill-oriented, and family-driven.
Maintains appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with clients and families.
Maintains regular contact with the parent/guardian of each client.
Works collaboratively with parents/guardians, staff members, and members of the client’s treatment team.
Provides consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues including classroom observation and appropriate service determination.
Participates in staff development and training as determined by supervisor.
Collaborates with teachers and staff to provide services to students and families.
Coordinate collaborative activities for mental health awareness with mental health community partners and schools.
Assist the District and schools in identifying gaps in mental health services.
Participates in collecting mental health information and student outcomes data to be used for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided.
Provides consultation services to the school staff to support the overall mental health goals of the school and client as appropriate and as needed.
Adheres to the policies, procedures, and regulations by governing and licensing bodies for the services delivered.
Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Travel to multiple schools is required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to deal effectively with clients, staff, and outside agencies.

EVALUATION

The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Special Education Services.
