Job Responsibilities
With our Agency’s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Simpsonville Mental Health Center, 20 Powderhorn Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29861.
Responsibilities for this Position Title include but are not limited to:
Under the team leader, this clinician will be responsible for answering incoming crisis calls and providing telephonic crisis intervention services, screening and consultation in a culturally competent manner as the backup for 988 Lifeline.
Identifies concerns with mental illness, developmental disabilities and/or substance use and refers to the appropriate resources. Utilize assessment information and community resources to provide information and/or linkage and referral to services.
Knowledgeable of and accountable for Documentation expectations.
Demonstrates recognition of the importance of collaboration and teamwork within the Center and the community.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services; considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting; working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies ; ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.
