MSAP School Mental Health Counselor
School Mental Health Therapists are humble, caring, non-judgmental professionals who value developing connections with students and families. The School Mental Health Program seeks to build resilience in students and their families through effective therapy and support in school andmunity settings. School mental health therapists should be flexible people who can work in fast-paced environments.
Provide assessment, individual, group therapy, behavior modification, crisis intervention services, and other rehabilitative behavioral health services.
Regularly collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff, and participate in the prevention and early intervention efforts.
Work with a range of clients and diagnoses.
Develop and manage individual student support/intervention plans.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic, work well independently, and have strong written and oralmunication skills.
Facilitate student “recovery” by providing real time intervention and support.
Other duties as assigned
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a mental health counselor and licensure as a psychologist, therapist, social worker, or counselor
Reports to on-site MSAP administrator
