Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center / OAMHC is an approved site of the National
Health Service Corps, (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000 to
employees of NHSC-approved sites. Who We Are
Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center is part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center/OAMHC provides mental health services to individuals in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg and Holly Hill Counties.
Under direct supervision, serves on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team who provides evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model. This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with serious mental illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.
1 Provides direct services through coaching mentoring and consultation to the patient to promote recovery, self-advocacy and self-direction. Promotes wellness management strategies, which include delivering manualized interventions, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) or illness Management and Recovery. Assist patients in developing Psychiatric Advanced Directives. Models’ recovery values, attitudes, beliefs and personal action to encourage wellness and resilience.
2 Maintains medical record documentation standards with QA, DMH and CARF policies and procedures. Documents services collaboratively with the patient as appropriate.
3 Provides consultation to ACT Team members to assist in understanding recovery and the role of the CPSS, promoting a culture in which patients’ points of view are preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment.
4 Serves as an active member of the ACT team, which includes facilitating the IPOC process for patients assigned to them. Regularly participates in the daily team meetings and treatment plan meetings. Ensures at least a monthly staffing of each patient that they serve.
5 Will provide patients with satisfaction surveys to measure the patient’s own perception of care, access to service, and improve the quality of treatment. 6 Will adhere to policies and procedures according to Corporate Compliance, Fire and Safety, and CARF. Shall comply with SCDMH Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements in performing job duties.
7 Completes all annual required training to include Safety, MAPS, Cultural Affairs, and clinical trainings. Maintains CPSS certification. Demonstrates adherence to CARF standards, and SCDMH and Center policy and procedures.
8 Performs other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

State:

A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required experience

DMH:

A high school diploma and living with and experiencing a personal recovery to primary illness.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws or regulations pertaining to a social service program. Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objectives. Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment interventions.
