Job Function:

Under the supervision of the ACT Team Lead, the Mental Health Professional/Co-Occurring Specialist provides individual and group counseling services for adults experiencing serious mental illness, trauma, and/or emotional problems in the community

Employee Classification:

Considered a professional, exempt position that is regular full-time.

Examples of Work:

Participates in daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings. Works as a member of the ACT team to provide community-based services, ensuring ACT Fidelity. Coordinates, plans, and implements group, individual, and PRS interventions. Serves as a consultant and educator to fellow ACT team members regarding Substance Abuse Disorders. Conducts comprehensive substance abuse assessments. Documents services provided in the Electronic Medical Record within 48 hours of service. Provides backup transportation duties for the clinical team. Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of methods, principles, and practices of evidence-based, therapeutic interventions; psychopathology and patient management within a psychiatric setting; group dynamics and human development; trauma-informed care; and client interviewing. Ability to establish and maintain effective contact with individuals, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines, community partners, and other stakeholders. Understanding of community supports including supportive services provided by other public and private agencies. Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree from an Accredited School of Counseling, Social Work, or Mental Health. Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC,) or a master’s level Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) required. 2 years of experience in a clinical counseling program is preferred. Training in trauma-informed care is preferred

Necessary Special Requirements:

Must have a valid SC driver’s license and a good driving record. Must be certifiable in defensive driving and Standard CPR/1st-Aid. Employee Benefits for
