TheMaster’s Behavioral Health Co-Response Clinician The Master’s LevelBehavioral Health Co-Response Clinician will be available to workside-by-side (co-respond) with law enforcement in the community tointervene and divert individuals during police encounters. Theclinician will triage, assess and identify possible treatmentoptions for identified individuals. The clinician will providemental health follow-up field calls with law enforcement. Clinicianwill be housed at Knoxville Police Department headquarters.

Clinician may be required to work flexible hours. Clinician willfacilitate trainings to law enforcement on mental health andsubstance use disorders. Clinician will participate in CrisisIntervention Team (CIT) trainings. COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position is approximately$60,712 /yr based on relevant experience and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

– Master’s Behavioral Health Co-Response ClinicianEducation /

Knowledge:

Must have at least a Master’s degree in ahealth-related field of counseling, psychology, social work,sociology, addictions, or a behavioral science field with coursework or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, humandevelopment, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol anddrug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectualdisability. Candidates with a Master’s degree in rehabilitation,occupational therapy, criminal justice, or education, must havefifteen college-level semester hours of coursework in behavioralhealth and at least one year of work experience in the behavioralhealth setting.

Experience :

One year experience in the social workand addictions field and/or behavioral health and criminal justicesetting preferred. Physical/Emotional/Social –

Skills/Abilities:

Must have strong communication skills. Must be able to perform jobresponsibilities on an independent level, may work non-traditionalwork hours, and interface professionally with law enforcement.

Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones.

Close eye work. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, andreaching. Regular attendance is an essential job function. Validdriver’s license- F endorsement and a personal dependable vehicleto conduct community outreach and response. Maintaining adependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition ofemployment. Required to be certified in CPR/First Aid and trainedin Handle with Care de-escalation techniques.
