Position Description:
To safeguard and promote the welfare of our KARM guests experiencing acute and chronic mental health episodes. The CIS will provide crisis mobilization and support to . The CIS will be the point person for discharging health facilities.

Crisis Intervention Specialist Responsibilities and Job Duties:
Assist in resolving conflict between guests, as needed. Assist with small group sessions. Oversee and maintain medication lockers. Act as Mental health Liaison for all KARM departments during extended hours. Maintain appropriate documentation, and case notes. Conduct projects assigned by the Navigator of Health and Wellness. Commit to KARM mission, vision, and core values. Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ. Utilize de-escalation, conflict resolution, suicide prevention and addiction awareness techniques. Coordinate care and participation for those receiving services through mental health agencies. Promote and encourage participation in KARM’S residential and non-residential programs when appropriate. Knowledge of and ability to apply mental health principles Must have intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be comfortable with information systems. Experience in coaching others Ability to build relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Crisis Intervention Specialist Physical Responsibilities:
Able to stand for extended periods of time. Able to lift at least 30lbs. Some local travel may be required for training or various purposes Ability to work independently
Recommended Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Sociology preferred. Training and/or certification on de-escalation strongly recommended. Minimum of two years’ experience working with or serving homeless individuals, preferred. Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience working with people experiencing challenging life circumstances. Must have a current Tennessee Driver License with the ability to be added to the company’s vehicle policy.
