Lead Counselor (Bristol, VA)Cedar Recovery is currently hiringfor a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or LicensedProfessional Counselor with Mental Health Service ProviderDesignation (LPC-MHSP). The Lead Counselor will implement effectivetreatment strategies in coordination with the Clinical Director andplay a vital role in helping patients feel better, get better, andstay better.
Cedar Recovery, LLC is an ASAM Level I outpatienttreatment facility that employs an array of evidenced-basedtreatment modalities to provide an integrated model of care ofmedical, counseling, and therapeutic interventions to treat everypatient’s individual needs and promote long-term sustainablerecovery from substance use disorder. While Cedar Recovery providescare for all substance use disorders, it has a primary focus ontreating opioid use disorder with medications such as Buprenorphineand/or Naltrexone, as well as Methadone (MAT).This role willoversee the therapy staff and programming at Cedar Recovery’sbuprenorphine treatment Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) andmethadone treatment Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) facilities. Bothfacilities are based in Bristol, VA.OverviewThe Lead Counselor isexpected to demonstrate expertise in: individual and groupcounseling, crisis intervention, consultation, advocacy, casemanagement, substance abuse assessments, intakes,discharge/continuing care planning, and appropriate referrals. Thecounselor may also perform other related tasks that are a part ofCedar Recovery’s operation. The focus in this position requiresknowledge of opioid addiction and direct practice in facilitatingevidenced-based treatment. Counselors are entrusted to maintaintheir expertise and continually gain knowledge via continuingeducation and training within the scope of opioid or substanceabuse treatment.

Support the patient’s progress toward recovery goals, improvedsocial determinants of health scores, and patient healthoutcomes. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of medicalproviders and admin professionals to provide best-in-class care toour patients. Supervise staff counselor(s) and group counselor(s) on staff. This can include conducting internal chart audits, co-signingnotes, ensuring compliance, and developing clinical skills. Regularly evaluate staff needs and facilitate some clinicaltraining. Conduct individual and group sessions. Administer patient assessments as clinically indicated. Orient patients to the treatment program’s policies andprocedures. Establish and build rapport with clients. Conduct initial assessments and formulate individual plans ofcare, including activities related to managing and improving thecare of the patient population across health, substance abuse andmental health treatment, and social service providers. Establish SMART goals with each patient and monitorprogress. Maintain licensure/certification and complete requiredCEUs. Provide referrals outside of Cedar Recovery as clinicallyindicated. In collaboration with the OTP Program Director, ensurecompliance with 42 CFR, accreditation guidelines, and other stateand federal regulations governing OTPs.
Qualifications The minimum requirements for this position are a Master’s leveldegree and licensure. Consideration of applicants will be weighed based on: Experience in the field Educational background: Master’s or higher in social work,counseling, and/or related field of study.

Thisjob operates in a professional treatment environment. This roleroutinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,photocopiers, and fax machines.
Position Type and Expected Hours ofWork:
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Days andhours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Theclinician must also be available to respond to questions from theirclinical team, as needed.
Some employees may be eligible for ahybrid work schedule. Employees working virtually are expected tofulfill the same job functions as in the office, including carryingthe same office hours and being able to communicate effectively andpromptly in a virtual environment.
