Riverstone Counseling, Spectrum’s outpatient counseling program, is seeking a full-time licensed/licensed eligible mental health counselor or social worker for our outpatient mental health and substance use counseling program. Substance use licensure or certification preferred. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health and substance use screening, assessment and integrated co- occurring individual, group, and family therapy for adolescents and young adults aged 12-30. This is a full time exempt position with an annual salary of $55,000 – $61,000. We offer a competitive hourly wage of $21.00 with a $4.00 shift differential and a robust benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; HRA; short-term and long-term disability coverage; accrued vacation and unlimited health leave; and a 403(b) retirement plan.
Essential Functions
Perform screening, orientation, and assessment to complete program admissions and facilitate appropriate referrals as needed. Create client-driven treatment plans using specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. Manage and sustain a caseload that meets program productivity standards. (FT 25-30 clients, adjusted for PT)
Provide clients with individual, group, and/or family counseling and psychotherapy services for clients experiencing mental health and substance use issues including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, and other behavioral disorders as defined in the DSM 5.
Utilize Feedback Informed Treatment consistently with clients. Respond to client crises as needed and act as an afterhours on-call counselor when assigned.
Keep accurate and timely documentation within the designated electronic health record (EHR) that adheres to the counseling program’s policy. Attend individual and group supervision regularly, as well as all-staff meetings and required trainings. Maintain positive professional relationships with resources, agencies, and providers to coordinate services. Engage in continuing education to support professional development and ensure high quality of care. Maintain professional licenses, including completing necessary CEU’s.
Ability to actively support diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts by participating in ongoing training and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Required
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited program.
Ability to be Rostered with Vermont OPR Required.
Experience in providing client-centered, developmentally appropriate services to adolescents, young adults, and their families experiencing complex and varied mental health and substance use concerns.
Understanding of the complex impact of trauma and has experience of providing trauma-informed care. Commitment to the value of diversity with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, age, socio-economic level, sexual orientation, ability, and religion. Crisis intervention skills, including suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and resourcing. Knowledge of human development; with special attention to adolescent and young adult biopsychosocial development and family systems.
Prior experience and/ or willingness to work with evidenced based practice.
Embraces collaborating with others and enjoys working in an open, supportive, and committed team that is dedicated to supporting youth and their well-being. Strong clinical writer and ability to keep accurate and timely documentation. Knowledge and Skills Desired
Licensure in mental health counseling, social work, or alcohol and drug counseling.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with evidence-based practices, such as: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy/stress reduction, Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality.
