Social Work :

Senior Social workers have experience th demonstres advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice. The Senior Social Worker for whom this functional stement applies is assigned to the Behavioral Health (BH) Service Line the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital (Truman VA) and provides services to the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Programs (BHIP), a general mental health clinic loced in the main hospital facility. Truman VA is a level 1C Medical Center, which provides both outpient medical and mental health services the main facility and each of the nine Community Based Outpient Clinics (CBOCs). Generalist and integred mental health services are provided the Truman VA and each CBOC, with specialized mental health services offered the Truman VA, to include programming to support trement for substance use disorder (SUD), Posttraumic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Severe Mental Illness (SMI), and Psychosocial Rehabilition (homeless and supported employment services). Over 150 direct and indirect FTE support both outpient and inpient services, with Psychiry, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Readjustment Counselors, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists providing multidisciplinary and collaborive trement interventions based on the Recovery Model and evidence-based trements. Inpient services are provided within a 12-bed acute psychiric unit where Veterans receive trement from Psychiry, Nursing, Psychology, and Social Work. A 14-bed Psychosocial Residential Rehabilition Trement Program provides trement for Veterans participing in intensive substance abuse programming. Performs comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for Veterans and family members with complex physical and behavioral disorders to determine the nure of the presenting problem, biological, social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral factors reled to the presenting problem, and the impact of the presenting problem on the Veteran’s physical, social, emotional, recreional, and occupional functioning. Uses advanced clinical training to select, utilize, and interpret approprie outcome measures. Integres all subjective and objective da into a comprehensive assessment th informs trement planning. Assesses high risk factors, acuity, and need for services with Veterans and family members who have frequent and severe crises, lack family or an adeque community support network, be poor self-monitoring, frequently fail to comply with instructions and trement, or have significant deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychosocial support. The incumbent completes comprehensive suicide risk assessments and safety planning for Veterans in crisis. Documents biopsychosocial assessments in compliance with the documention and timeliness standards established by the Medical Center and The Joint Commission. Based on the psychosocial assessment and using advanced practice expertise, incorpores complex multiple causion in differential diagnosis and trement of veterans and their families, including making psychosocial and psychiric diagnoses. Makes independent clinical diagnoses, decisions, and recommendions for agency action. Due to the complex nure of Veterans’ diagnoses, the consequences of these decisions may be serious and results unpredictable. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic trement plan for an assigned caseload of pients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. The incumbent formules a mutually agreed upon trement plan, which includes measurable goals, objectives, and trement methods based upon the psychological assessment. The trement plan is used to direct a course of trement, is individualized to include pient/family preferences, and reflects a multidisciplinary approach to care (as clinically indiced). The plan is upded annually or more frequently if there is a change in the pient’s condition or needs. Coordines assessment and screening of pients for specific mental health programs, including PTSD Clinical Team, Addictions Trement Programming, Psychosocial Rehabilition and Recovery Center (PRRC), and Psychosocial Residential Rehabilition Trement Program (PRRTP), and provides referrals to internal and external therapeutic resources, as clinically indiced.

For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent least 25% of the time. The senior social worker may be assigned administrive responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modificion of service pterns. The senior social worker collabores with the other members of the trement team in the provision of comprehensive health care services to Veterans, ensures equity of access, service, and benefits to this populion, ensures the care provided is of the highest quality. The senior social worker provides leadership, direction, oriention, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing educion programs for assigned social work staff.
