Job Responsibilities
With our Agency’s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. This position will be embedded with North Augusta Public Safety.
Job Purpose
Under limited supervision, provides crisis intervention, therapy, clinical assessment, and referral services to adults, children, families and detainees referred by and involved with law enforcement agencies in Aiken County.
Job Functions Utilizes clinical skills in providing screening, crisis, and therapeutic interventions, assessment, and resources to adults, children, families or detainees who have
been identified as high-risk for psychological and functional impairment following a traumatic event.
Delivers follow-up care to patients after traumatic experiences, and ensures patient are seen in accordance with their needs.
Provide case consultation with officers and victim advocates to generate referral of patients identified in need if mental health resources/interventions. Services as liaison with personnel of LE to facilitate treatment and/or outside referral needs of identified patients seen with LE.
Provides crisis services during business hours, as requested, assists LE with emergency calls requiring de-escalation expertise or involving individuals with mental health needs.
Required to take 4 on-call shifts per month during week and 2 weekend shifts per month.
Coordinate with key community stakeholders to provide multi-system, trauma informed interventions and participate in community outreach events.
Manages data collection for patient served.
Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, and pursues professional development.
Completes documentation according to

QA/SCDMH

standards and complies with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan.
Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements:

A Master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency Requirements:

A Master’s degree in social work, guidance counseling, or the social sciences.
Must be eligible for licensure and willing to pursue within six months.
Preferred Qualifications

Agency Preferences:

Knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior adjustment techniques and mental health. Knowledge of clinical practices, interviewing techniques, psychopathology and core principles of trauma-informed care. Knowledge of legal principles and practices related to mandated reporting and outpatient advocacy. Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical and crisis counseling services. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws or regulations pertaining to social service programs. Ability to work collaboratively with law enforcement. Ability to engage key stakeholders and community partners.
Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objectives in crisis situations.
Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex assessment and treatment interventions in the community settings.
Ability to work effectively and independently with limited supervision. Ability to conduct mental health assessments for adults/children/families while out in the community setting and provide brief interventions, case management and referrals. Guidelines are established in EPMS with annual performance review. Must exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objective.
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of issues/documents.
Position is embedded with Law Enforcement agency and will include duties during which clinician may ride along with officers.
Must be able to operate a state vehicle.
May be called back for emergencies/disasters.
This position does require candidate to take mobile crisis call after
hours.
Position is considered essential.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional Comments
