$14.00 per hour About Us Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting independence for combat-wounded veterans, first responders, and children with life-changing disabilities through partnerships with skilled assistance dogs. Position Overview Golden PAWS is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Puppy Nanny/Kennel Assistant to support the care and development of our youngest service dogs in training—puppies ranging from 8 weeks to 1 year old—while helping maintain a clean, safe kennel environment. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a love for animals. The ideal candidate will be physically capable of managing puppies, committed to cleanliness, and comfortable working independently during evening and weekend hours. Hours are subject to change based on the number of puppies in our program.
Key Responsibilities Puppy Nanny Duties:
Provide consistent, attentive care to puppies aged 8 weeks to 1 year. Lift, carry, and handle puppies weighing up to 50 lbs. Follow feeding schedules and dietary guidelines. Monitor behavior and well-being, reporting concerns to staff. Clean up after accidents, spills, and daily messes. Ensure puppies receive regular potty breaks. Adhere to all training protocols provided by the Lead Trainer.
Kennel Assistant Duties:
Sweep, mop, and sanitize kennel floors, walls, and surfaces. Keep kennels organized and free of waste. Wash, dry, and fold towels and bedding. Clean and disinfect bowls, leashes, toys, and kennel supplies. Follow all sanitation and safety procedures. Report equipment or facility issues to management. Qualifications Prior experience in animal care and dog handling is required. Strong attention to cleanliness and detail. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and handle dogs up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working on your feet, bending, and stooping. Self-motivated with excellent time management skills. Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently. A team player with a positive attitude and genuine love for animals.
