As the Director of Child Care, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, compliance, and delivery of high-quality early childhood education for a small class of 4-year-olds. The Director of VPK is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, and coordination of the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. You will ensure compliance with state and local guidelines, oversee staff and curriculum, manage enrollment and funding processes, and create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment for 4-year-old students. Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with Florida Department of Education and Early Learning Coalition regulations Oversee classroom operations to ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate, and stimulating environment Review and approve all lesson plans Facilitate learning assessments and adjust teaching strategies based on student progress Plan and implement daily lessons with VPK standards and school curriculum Integrate developmentally appropriate practices in literacy, math, science, social studies, and arts Foster early reading and pre-writing skills through engaging hands-on activities Plan and lead ongoing professional development in alignment with VPK guidelines Maintain open, supportive, and professional communication with parents and guardians Submit timely and accurate data to the Early Learning Coalition and DOE as required Monitor Kindergarten readiness data and report outcomes to the school headmaster Qualifications Florida Director’s Credential (VPK-endorsed) Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education with leadership or administrative experience preferred Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education is preferred Demonstrated experience managing a team Deep understanding of childcare, child development, and education Excellent communication skills CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to obtain
