About Us:

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is dedicated to providing mental health services and support to at-risk youth and their families. Our Residential Team is a multidisciplinary group focused on delivering individualized, wraparound care to youth struggling with behavioral health challenges in a home like environment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking awake staff to provide guidance and provide oversight for children in the home. This is an overnight, awake, non sleeping position.

The Awake Staff is responsible:

To the Awake Staff Supervisor or his/her designee. For monitoring the houses and clients during the late evening and morning hours. For ensuring the safety and security of the children during the night and performing safety room checks throughout the night. For working at the prescribed times as agreed upon with the Awake Staff Supervisor. For following all policies and procedures of the organization. For the direct supervision and management of the behavior of the children. For providing crisis intervention when a crisis occurs with a child. For notifying the house parents, supervisor, on-call staff or emergency rescue if there is an emergency. For waking up enuretic children as per their schedule or program. For reporting to house parents, supervisor, or on-call staff any pertinent information concerning occurrences on their shift. For maintaining accurate records and written documentation of all work activities in the manner prescribed by the Program Director and the policies and procedures. For attending all quarterly awake staff meetings unless excused. For performing general housekeeping and laundry tasks. For reporting facility or grounds maintenance needs to the Awake Staff Supervisor to assure the safety of the clients. For instructing children in personal hygiene habits and overseeing the childrens physical health. For dispensing items such as toiletries, clothing, linens, etc. as required. To stay awake throughout the entire shift For obtaining Orientation and 40 hours of in-service training per year For keeping up to date on current regulations and procedures regarding infection control and the prevention of disease via bloodborne pathogens, by attending facility in-services or completing online training. For utilizing the principles of Universal Precautions in daily work routine. All other duties as assigned. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED. A valid drivers license. A history free of offenses listed on the Affidavit of Good Moral Character Providing a role model and mentor for children. The ability to present self in a positive, professional manner to the children and other agency personnel. Being a Team Member. The desire to work cooperatively as a member of a team for the benefit of the child and the organization. Ability to provide structure. The ability to be consistent in providing discipline to each child, as prescribed by the program and the individual treatment plan. Ability to provide a homelike environment. The ability to make the SAYS residential environment as near to a home as is possible.
