Job Description

Overview This dual-career family on the Upper West Side is looking for a full-time nanny and family assistant to step into a central role in supporting their two sons’ day-to-day routines – from school drop-offs to engaging play and everything in between. The right fit is someone who loves fostering meaningful moments with children to further development, and truly values the connection component of being a nanny. If you take pride in helping the week run smoothly for busy families and genuinely investing in children’s growth, this is the job for you! The family is hoping for an August start date, but is open to welcoming someone sooner for the right fit. The Ideal Candidate for this Job This position is perfect for a caregiver who is emotionally attuned, organized, and confident working independently. The ideal candidate has experience with both toddlers and school-aged children and feels just as comfortable supporting after-school engagement for the older child as they do encouraging independence in a nearly 3-year-old. Once you settle in with a position, you’re the type of person who anticipates what’s needed and steps in with care and ease. A background in early childhood education or an interest in Montessori philosophy is a plus, but more important is showing up with patience, flexibility, and a love for engaging, thoughtful activities. A love of music and reading stories is a bonus (the children LOVE books), as is cooking simple comfort meals for kids. Schedule 10 AM to 6 PM for 40 hours/week guaranteed Earlier starts “as-needed” but that they generally occur 6-8 times a month, and you’ll come in at 7:30 AM on those occasions About the Children Boy, 7 years old: Both boys absolutely love reading and love books! The oldest is a bright, deeply imaginative child full of curiosity who loves “going deep” on his favorite topics — from race cars to sports to storytelling. He’s into baseball, soccer, drawing, and fun facts, and thrives when adults engage him in real conversation. A caregiver who’s excited to play imaginative games and dive into his interests will be a wonderful fit. Boy, almost 3 years old: Independent, strong-willed, and sweet, this little one is highly verbal, funny, and proud of his “I can do it myself” spirit. He attends a Montessori program. He is Mr. Social butterfly and loves to meet new people and go on play dates. He loves music, books, and being out and about — and he looks up to his big brother. Responsibilities Responsibilities include managing school drop-offs and pick-ups, implementing fun activities that meet both of the boys’ age groups, prepping or cooking healthy meals for the kids, children’s laundry, and general tidying. We’ll prioritize candidates in our search who are comfortable with summer travel, as they spend 4-5 weeks Upstate each summer (a private room and additional overnight compensation will be provided). Additional Information Mom has busy workdays, and Dad travels overseas often, so someone open to occasional earlier starts is important
