POSITION SUMMARY

Care for and engage children entrusted by parents to the UUFC Nursery during Sunday services, and on other occasions as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Engage children in play and offer creative, constructive activities for a small group of children in the age range of infants to toddlers. Maintain safe space for children at all times in coordination with DRE and/or the Sunday School instructor. Communicate with parents; oversee check-in and check-out of children. Change children’s diapers as needed. Clean and straighten nursery and sanitize toys each Sunday before leaving. Ensure that nursery is operated in accordance with UUA’s Safe Congregation Policy to ensure safe, secure and high-quality environment for children.

SCHEDULE

10:15 a.m. to 15 minutes after services each Sunday as scheduled, with possible extra duty for special events, determined as needed and agreed.

REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 18 years of age or older preferred, with experience in child care. Knowledge and support of Unitarian Universalist principles, traditions, heritage and values; knowledge and support of alternative family structures. Able to pass background screening for criminal convictions for physical or sexual abuse or crimes involving children. CPR training/certification for infants and children (will be provided at UUFC’s expense).

COMPENSATION

$25 per Sunday session; rate negotiable for extra time or events.
