SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Spiritual Care Director plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide compassionate and holistic spiritual care for our residents and create and host programs of a spiritual and religious nature to support the individual needs of each resident of faith or otherwise.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Connect, establish, and maintain relationships with residents in support of their spiritual lives.
Responsible for conducting and documenting timely spiritual assessments on residents as appropriate. Initiate spiritual care plan as needed and document progress in the electronic health record.
Organize worship services, life celebrations and religious holiday programs in creative and ecumenical ways.
Create, and set up spiritual care programs, and communicate scheduled times with Life Enrichment for inclusion in monthly calendar.
Connect, establish, and maintain relationships with local spiritual organizations, and their corresponding leaders.
Recruit and support volunteers who host spiritual care programs with recommended content and needed materials. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public. Capable of working with and around ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility. Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
Bachelor’s Degree and Graduate Level Theological Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
Two or more years of experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, spiritual direction or counseling setting. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Prefer previous work experience with the aging population.
