ABOUT THE ROLE

The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients and families or caregivers either directly or through coordination of care with other counselors.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree in divinity, theology, or biblical studies or certification as an ordained minister. One (1) year of experience in hospice or healthcare.

In Georgia only:

documented completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), per state requirements. Experience with patients, families/caregivers through death or dying. Must have reliable transportation, proof of current automobile insurance and a valid driver’s license. Must be willing to drive and be available on

Friday’s Schedule:

PRN / Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Coverage Areas:

Walton, Barrow, Morgan, Clarke, Oconnee, and Jackson Counties

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE

Ability to work as a team member, Knowledge and commitment to hospice philosophy Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Understanding of grief response and experience with counseling individuals and/or in groups regarding loss Qualified and competent in supporting medical care both spiritually and emotionally. Excellent communication skills.

Basic computer skills:

understanding the basic notions of computer manipulation, managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using email; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use. Ability to express or exchange ideas utilizing the spoken word. Ability to communicate effectively, negotiation, and public relations skills. Ability to demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
