The Director of Mission Integration (DMI) is a criticalexecutive-level leadership position tasked with fully integratingthe organization’s mission, vision and values as well as itsheritage, ethics and identity into the environment, processes,policies and procedures of the organization. The DMI will haveresponsibility for multiple hospitals/ministry sites in which theywill have executive oversight of and provide leadership anddirection of “Mission Services”, including but not limited toSpiritual Care, Community Benefit, Ethics, Formation, WorkplaceSpirituality, and Ecclesial Relations. In collaboration with thelocal Presidents and local Mission Contacts/Chaplains, the DMI hasa particularized responsibility to help guide and lead allemployees, as “mission integrators” to ensure the mission andvalues of the organization are inherently alive and fullyintegrated. This position will encompass Ministry Sites in theMidwest Division and serve as a member of the senior executiveleadership team of all the hospital sites under their purview witha direct reporting “solid line” to the Mkt VP MissionIntegration-NEIA. 1. Has the authority to interview, hire, orient,terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations. 2.Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional andtechnical job performance of team members. 3. Allocate and directstaffing needs to meet patient, unit and department needs, andcollaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.4.

Manage performance including:

setting goals, clarifying jobexpectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback,recognizing, developing skills and addressing performance issuesrelated to work and our commitments using corrective action. 5.Lead the delivery of the “Mission Integration” segment for all NewEmployee Orientations with the resources provided by the DivisionMission Office including presenting on topics of heritage, mission,vision, values, identity, ethics, spiritual care, communitybenefit, workplace spirituality, ERDs, Sponsorship, and seeks waysof offering this material to other potential stakeholderorientations including physicians, executives, board members. 6.Lead opportunities for formation at all hospitals whether throughFormation-in-the-Moment opportunities, the provided divisionvirtual resources or specific formation programs/presentations forvarious stakeholder groups such as physicians, executives, boards,management and employees. In collaboration, seeks to create anannual education program related to Mission Integration. 7. Leadingand otherwise ensuring and providing for opportunities to encourageand celebrate “spirituality in the workplace” through theenvironment, language, people, prayers, prayer services, rituals,feast days, division virtual offerings, blessings and othertraditions of the ministry sites. 8. Prepares and managescelebrations related to the history and heritage of the hospitallocations and their respective founding congregation(s) as well asthe history and heritage of Catholic Health Initiatives andCommonSpirit Health. 9. Collaborates with the Central Region VicePresident for Ethics and Theology, ensuring a process is in placeat all hospitals under their purview to manage ethics consultationrequests and serving as a member of the Ethics Committee(s),providing ongoing formation and education of said ethicscommittee(s) members particularly related to the ERDs (Ethical andReligious Directives of Catholic Health Care Services in the UnitedStates, Edition VI) and ensuring ethics-related, sacramental,ecclesial and chaplain policies are current, reviewed and updated.10. Cultivates and maintains healthy relationships with variouscommunity clergy for the communities of the hospitals under theirpurview as well as positive overall ecclesial relationships inconsultation and collaboration with the

DSVPMI. 11.

Incollaboration with the with the Community Benefit Office, offersupport, directly or indirectly, to all the hospitals under theirpurview to ensure the provision for Community Benefit including theCommunity Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), the follow-up actionImplementation Plan, recording data in the CBISA software andproviding an annual report. Serves as a leader or member of theHealthy Communities Coalition and ensures programs are aligned withthe hospital and communities under their purview. 12. Ensures thehigh-quality delivery of Spiritual Care/Pastoral Care/Chaplainservices, including ensuring that patient, family, and staffemotional and spiritual needs are met by a (certified) Chaplain,including but not limited to insuring that Spiritual Care Services/ Chaplains visit and are present for patients, families and staff,as well as for inter-disciplinary care teams (i.e., huddles,palliative care), as well as Codes where appropriate as well asoffer resources for prayers and spiritual/devotional reading, aswell as conduct and respond to emotional and spiritual needsassessments as well as ensures the provision of Sacraments forCatholic patients. Serves as manager to Chaplains/ChaplainDepartments of the hospitals and ministry sites under theirpurview. 13. As a member of the Senior Executive Team of all theirrespective Ministry Sites, attending all Senior Executive Team aswell as all Monthly Management meetings. 14. Maintain regularpresence and provide leadership to the “Mission Committee” of theministry sites under their purview. 15. As a part of the “staff” ofthe local Community Board(s) for the hospitals under their purview,attending such meetings as well as preparing and presenting aMission Integration report to the Board(s) of the respectivehospitals under their purview as well as offering a FormationOpportunity exercise. 16. Depending on structure of the localhospitals, meeting other duties as assigned including but notlimited to the Spiritual Care Department as well as CommunityBenefit/Healthy Communities as well as Ethics as well as otherdepartments/initiatives as well as, optionally, depending onhospital needs, supervising personally or through a direct-reportManager, the Volunteer Department, the Advocacy Department, theGift Shop, the Reward and Recognition Committee, and theDevelopment Department.
