II. GENERAL SUMMARY
The Youth Minister works to foster spiritual growth, deepen catechetical understanding, and promote social interactions among the junior high and high school students in the parish. The incumbent accomplishes this with the guidance of the pastor and the support of the adult and youth leadership teams, assuring that the ministry aligns with the mission of St. Aloysius Parish.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.
Education, Experience & Certifications:
Catholic in good standing, active in the life and worship of the Church, with a Vatican II vision of Church. A bachelor’s degree and a willingness to work towards a master’s degree in religious studies or related field. Willingness and ability to continue education through trainings and/or certifications A solid understanding of the holistic approach to youth ministry as outlined in the USCCB document Renewing the Vision-A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry. Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent must be a Practicing Catholic Ability to form relationships with both youth and adults. Ability to manage a large number of volunteers. B.
Other Qualifications:
Demonstrate the ability to meet weekly and monthly deadlines, a self-starter. Strong written and oral skills; is proficient, knowledgeable or willing to learn of current software being used by the parish i.e. Microsoft Office, as well as other technology as it applies to youth ministry; understands the use of websites and social media and has the ability to innovatively promote youth ministry to further the goals of the parish. Demonstrate the ability to be pastoral with parishioners. C.
Physical Demands:
Frequent walking, stooping, lifting, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds are required (workshops and meetings require transporting of equipment and materials). Requires the ability to set up small and large events. D.

1. To call forth, train, and empower others to assume leadership roles in youth ministry. 2. Under the direction of the pastor, oversees all youth programs, including Junior High and High School (7-12 grades) Parish Schools of Religion (PSR), Confirmation preparation, Junior High Youth Ministry, High School Youth Ministry, by utilizing the adult and youth leadership teams. High School PSR is incorporated into Life Teen/Life Night. a. Develop programs that connect the youth with the parish and diocesan communities by encouraging and inviting their participation in the stewardship life of the parish through commitments to prayer, offering, and ministry, with special attention to fostering liturgical ministries among youth b. Organize events to foster the spiritual growth of young people c. Create opportunities for youth to interact with each other socially d. Call forth and help form youth in leadership positions e. With the assistance of the leadership teams, evaluate and develop goals for youth ministry f. Prepare and monitor budget for youth ministry programs.
