Part-Time Worship Director (Up to 20 hours per week) Are you passionate about leading others into God’s presence through music and worship? Do you enjoy building up a team, mentoring musicians, and being part of a vibrant, growing church? We’re looking for a gifted and humble leader to help us rebuild and grow a worship team, lead Sunday morning worship, and serve at occasional community events and special services.
Who Are You:
A devoted follower of Jesus A skilled vocalist and instrumentalist (guitar or keys preferred) Someone who communicates well, leads with grace, and loves teamwork Familiar with contemporary worship (open to hymns too) Eager to help others grow in their musical and spiritual gifts Bonus if you: Know Planning Center or ProPresenter Have experience with tech/sound (or are willing to learn) Want to use your gifts beyond the stage

Worship Director The Well United Methodist Church Reports To:
Lead Pastor Purpose Statement The Worship Director helps lead the spiritual rhythm of The Well UMC by creating Christ-centered, engaging worship environments that enable people to connect deeply with Jesus and with one another. This role is a key part of our disciple-making mission and reflects the heart of Practicing the Way —helping people be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did through corporate worship. Position Overview The Worship Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading all aspects of music and worship that align with The Well UMC’s vision, mission, and values. This includes preparing for weekly worship services, special events, and team development, while fostering an atmosphere of both musical excellence and spiritual depth. Compensation This part-time role is limited to 20 hours per week, with an agreed-upon hourly wage. Compensation is based on a bi-weekly schedule and includes time spent on Sunday worship, rehearsals, planning, special events, spiritual growth, and leadership development.

Plan and lead worship that draws people into the presence of God through a blend of modern songs and occasional modernized hymns

100% of services are planned in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and align with the sermon series

Spiritual Growth Among Worship Team Goal:
Encourage prayer, discipleship, and spiritual connection within the team
Benchmark:
Offer a devotional or shared prayer at least once a month during rehearsal or team gatherings
Outcome:
Strong Volunteer Leadership Goal:
Recruit, train, and mentor a committed team of worship leaders and musicians
Benchmark:
Maintain a full team roster with backups, and offer at least one leadership training per quarter

Smooth Technical Execution Goal:
Coordinate effectively with the AV team to ensure consistent sound, lighting, and visual support
Benchmark:
Weekly tech run-throughs and prompt issue resolution, with minimal Sunday disruptions

Resource Stewardship Goal:
Use the worship budget wisely and care for equipment and resources
Benchmark:
Stay within 95% of the approved budget and complete two equipment/inventory check-ins each year

Team Integration and Leadership Collaboration Goal:
Stay in sync with other ministry leaders and align worship with churchwide direction
Benchmark:
Attend all worship planning meetings and at least 80% of leadership gatherings

Ministry Rhythm & Review Monthly one-on-one check-ins with the Lead Pastor for encouragement, planning, and feedback Annual ministry review focusing on growth, spiritual health, and effectiveness Optional participation in local or conference training and development events Closing Charge The Worship Director plays a central role in helping The Well become a worshiping church. Through music, prayer, and presence, this role invites the community into a deeper walk with Jesus and helps shape a church that truly loves, learns, and leads like Him.
