REPORTS TO
Director of Ministries :

The Next Gen Ministry Leader is responsible for overseeing and leading the spiritual development, education, and growth of the children, youth and young adults of Green Trails United Methodist church. This role requires a ministry leader who is gifted in working effectively with people, demonstrating strong leadership, creativity, and a heart for discipleship. Must be available to teach youth Sunday School Sundays at 9 am and attend/participate in Worship Service Sundays at 10 am.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Vision and Leadership:

In conjunction with Pastor and Director of Ministries develop a comprehensive vision for children’s and youth ministries that aligns with church mission and values Provide spiritual leadership, direction, and oversight for all children’s and youth ministry activities. Collaborate with other organizations (internally and externally) to create opportunities for youth; partner with church leadership to integrate children and youth into the broader life of the church Leading by example, establish a culture of respect and encourage youth to take on leadership roles within the group and church

Program Management:

In conjunction with Director of Ministries and Program volunteers, plan, organize and oversee activities and events (i.e. Sunday school, youth/children group(s) and special events such as children’s performance in worship service(s); outreach, mission trips, and retreats), promoting positive values and behaviors Provide leadership and direct supervision of Trekkers program, including coordinating volunteer staffing schedule, serving as liaison with school representatives to grow the program, and consult with mental health professionals and others to provide program essentials to students Coordinate outreach efforts and engage in key community-building opportunities in to reach out, gather and influence children, youth, and their families Maintain records of attendance, volunteer participation and event participation Create a safe and engaging environment for children/youth; ensure all ministry activities comply with church’s child protection policies and safety standards Promote children and youth events through internal communication network(s), social media, and other communication platforms In conjunction with Director of Ministries, manage program within budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of church resources

Discipleship and Mentoring:

Support children/youth in learning new skills, such as communication and problem solving Mentor young people in leadership and service, helping them discover and develop their spiritual gifts Monitor progress of youth members and document their achievements Encourage regular participation in Sunday services and organize age-specific worship experiences Foster a Christ-centered community where children and youth can grow in faith and ask questions, and build meaningful relationships Parent and Family Engagement Serve as a resource to parents, offering guidance on discipleship and faith development at home Communicate clearly and effectively with parents and other church staff/volunteers and seek feedback for improvement

WORK ENVIRONMENT
