First Shift,Second Shift Pennybyrn has an opportunity for a part-time Pastoral Care Associate. The Pastoral Ministry is a supportive ministry that assists in the healing of the whole person; physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The Pastoral Care Associate provides spiritual and emotional support through prayer and presence to all within the Pennybyrn Retirement Community, and particularly those that are most in need of skilled nursing and experiencing grief or sickness in other parts of the community. This position’s presence is provided to residents, families, employees, and the Health Center family.
General description of essential functions:
Provide a listening presence for challenging situations, such as sickness and death on-campus and in outpatient settings. Provide prayer and communal worship Provide daily attendance, visits, spiritual and emotional support Complete Spiritual assessments and activities Assist the Pastoral Care Director with spiritual responsibilities and programs Must be flexible with availability on holidays and weekends, and outside a traditional 9-5 schedule.
Special Demands:
Experience in providing emotional support or counseling, particularly with the Senior population Holds a deep understanding of religious issues Has an affiliation and experience with the Catholic faith and traditional practices (i.e. sacraments, anointing, Celebration of Eucharist, confessions, daily Mass, holy order, etc.) Must have excellent critical thinking and judgement skills, a positive attitude and outlook, an ability to build meaningful relationships, and provide empathetic support.
