Director of Youth Ministries Harrison United Methodist Church (Charlotte, NC Metro) Harrison United Methodist Church is a vibrant, intergenerational congregation located in the Charlotte Metro area. This person must be a self-starter, someone who is energized by possibility, thrives in creative and relational work, and who will play a central role in shaping the faith lives of our students. Position Summary The Director of Youth Ministries will oversee a vibrant and relationally rich ministry with youth in grades 6-12. This role requires theological depth, creative initiative, and a heart for pastoral presence. As part of the church’s core staff team, the Director will work collaboratively with lay leaders, families, and staff to nurture a community where young people are seen, known, and empowered to live into the fullness of their identity in Christ. Essential Responsibilities

• Build supportive, authentic relationships with students and their families
• Plan and lead annual retreats, summer mission experiences, and weekly youth gatherings
• Develop and deliver spiritually engaging, theologically grounded teaching and content
• Offer pastoral care and presence to students and families, including during times of crisis
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers with a focus on shared leadership and empowerment
• Coordinate Sunday School, Confirmation, youth group, and seasonal events
• Communicate consistently through email, social media, and personal outreach
• Participate in weekly staff meetings, church wide planning, and cross-ministry collaborations
• Assist in worship leadership, preaching, and teaching beyond youth group, helping ensure youth ministry is fully integrated into the life of the whole church
• Manage youth ministry budget and steward resources faithfully
• Represent Harrison in the community through school visits and student engagement
• Create a culture of inclusion, safety, and celebration for all youth, with special attention to LGBTQIA+ inclusion and racial equity
• Model and support spiritual practices that reflect our United Methodist identity and social witness Core Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree required, theological training or seminary coursework preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in youth ministry or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to grow, lead, and sustain a vibrant youth ministry
• Alignment with United Methodist theology, values, and full affirmation of LGBTQIA+ persons
