N/A RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

: Resident Services Facilitate resident discussion/support groups on topics such as: aging, loss of abilities, control and independence; end-of life issues; bereavement; spiritual growth Provide spiritual and psychosocial support to individual residents and their families with individual and/or group counseling through in-home visits to residents or office appointments, as resident prefers Receive and respond to calls and referrals from staff, physicians, residents, families, or clergy with assessments and appropriate pastoral/psychotherapeutic interventions Collaborate with staff to provide spiritual/psychosocial support to Bldg. 4, 5, 6, & 7 residents Officiate worship services in the Higher Levels of Support In conjunction with the Resident Health and Well-Being Committee, design and facilitate workshops for residents on topics related to pastoral care, advance directives and end-of-life planning. Organization Support With regard to resident deaths: coordinate announcements and on-site memorial services, be available to lead memorial services at Carol Woods, and attend off-campus memorial services in the Chapel Hill area as Carol Woods’ staff representative Organize and facilitate annual community remembrance service Provide staff education on death/dying/bereavement, as needed Provide spiritual support to staff caring for dying residents and remembrance sessions for staff and residents following resident deaths, as needed Provide spiritual focus for community events (e.g., prayer or invocation; celebratory ceremonies) Respond to critical incidents affecting community as a whole with appropriate spiritual services Serve on Board Ethics Committee, and other committees as assigned. All other duties as assigned.

Education:

Master of Divinity or Social Work and Clergy Ordination or Clinical Pastoral Education.

Experience:

Two years’ experience in pastoral counseling to include conducting non-denominational worship and memorial services, bereavement counseling, and facilitating support and discussion groups, preferably in a long term care setting with older adults.
