Overview:
The Children’s Ministry Director is a self-driven, visionary leader with a heart for sharing God’s love with children from birth through 5th grade. This individual excels at building strong relationships—with kids, their families, volunteers, church staff, and fellow leaders—and is passionate about fostering spiritual growth at both a personal and ministry level. The ideal candidate is gifted and called to lead children’s ministry with creativity,passion, and purpose. They will oversee and cast vision for all Anchor Kids Ministry, while actively recruiting, equipping, and inspiring our 30+ volunteers who serve alongside the Children’s Ministry Director. In addition, the Children’s Ministry Directoranizes and promotes special events, trips, camps, and conferences for children and their families. This role offers flexibility and can be structured as either a full-time or part-time position, depending on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the church. P.S. North Haven also has a Child Development Center (CDC). The CDC has 125 kids from birth to 5th grade and emploees 25 teachers on our campus Monday•Friday.
Job Skills:
Strong verbal and writtenmunication skills, with basic administrative abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred 2-5 years of experience in children’s ministry or a related role within a local church setting Comfortable engaging in cross-cultural ministry and building relationships with diverse families Musical ability and experience leading praise and worship are a plus Management Responsibilities Lead and manage an effective, Christ-centered children’s ministry using available resources to create a dynamic and engaging environment. Select, distribute, and maintain curriculum materials for all Sunday and Wednesday children’s programing. Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to serve as teachers, greeters, assistants, and nursery workers within Anchor Kids. Oversee the recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of Nursery volunteers to support childcare needs across all North Haven ministry events, as needed. Utilize the church’s database system (Realm and Subsplash) to collect and manage contact information, birthdates, attendance records, volunteer assignments, and the children’s check-in/check-out process. Collaborate with and seek guidance from the Children’s Ministry Board to align goals and ensure effective ministry direction. Plan and lead additional children’s activities and events beyond the regular weekly schedule, including seasonal or special programs. Foster strong, supportive relationships with parents, grandparents, and guardians to promote spiritual growth at home and church. Organize and maintain supplies, curriculum, and decorations for all children’s ministry environments. Ensure the proper handling of all ministry-related forms, including event permission slips, waivers, consent forms, and volunteer background checks. Coordinate the opening and closing of the Education Building for Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and special children’s ministry events. Ministry Responsibilities Be actively present and available to minister to and disciple the children of North Haven Church during Sunday School and Wednesday evening programs. Engage with parents in a supportive and respectful manner regarding their children’s spiritual growth, behavioral concerns, or other personal needs. Participate meaningfully each July in the annual Royal Family KIDS Camp sponsored by North Haven, serving as a consistent and caring presence in the lives of the children. Miscellaneous Responsibilities Contribute to the evaluation and development of North Haven Church’s overall ministry, as needed or requested. Submit expense reports and required documentation in a timely andanized manner, as directed by the Executive Pastor. Assist in the North Haven Food Pantry operations when requested by the Pastor. (We give away over 30,000 lbs of food monthly) Support church events by helping with logistical needs, including facility setup and teardown. (We have a fulltime and part-time person who oversees this) Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor to support the broader mission of the church. Other Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma required; formal ministry training from a Bible college or seminary is preferred. Committed to ongoing spiritual and professional growth, including regular study of God’s Word and participation in children’s ministry seminars or training. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid North Carolina driver’s license; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus, not required. Demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a teachable spirit, and a well-balanced, healthy personal life. Fully agrees with and ads to North Haven’s Code of Christian Conduct.
