Youth & Young Adult Minister (Part-Time) 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Sicklerville, NJ 08081 Youth & Young Adult Minister (Part-Time) St. Charles Borromeo, Sicklerville The Youth & Young Adult Minister (YYAM) will be responsible to minister to the youth of the parish in grades 6-12 as well as post High School age Young Adults ages 18-26 (this is to include youth and young adults at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Williamstown.) In this position YYAM will also assist where needed with the other youth & young adult groups/events/activities: pilgrimages, retreats, outings, fundraisers, community service, parish events, etc. For the Youth portion the YYAM will work in collaboration with the team at OLOPP, to run youth meetings/gatherings and take a lead role in running the Young Adult Ministry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develops rapport with the youth, provides for formal catechesis, and invites and enables youth to serve others Recruits, trains, assesses and supports all adult volunteers to work in the ministry and working in collaboration with parish staff to integrate youth into all aspects of parish life. Specifically, to develop a “Core Team” for youth ministry. Recruits, trains, assesses and supports all adult volunteers, while seeking close communication with the families of the youth Collaborate with other staff members in promoting the parish mission and diocesan vision statement Spend sufficient time with the youth to develop rapport at youth, young adult and parish sponsored events Involves youth in service and outreach in the parish and community and developing programs based on the model of whole parish catechesis Implements the USCCB document, Renewing the

Vision:

A framework for Catholic Youth Ministry & Son and Daughters of Light, Using the eight components and goals in the ministry of teens as a true vision of faith formation Raise effective mentors for youth and help to develop peer on peer youth leadership Promotes, plans and facilitates participation of parish youth in diocesan and national youth events in collaboration with the youth and young adult team at OLOPP Organizes and teaches the youth of the parish to live aspects of social justice Schedules youth activities in coordination with other youth events in the parish and diocese Works collaboratively with DRE on continuing formation and post confirmation formation Collaborates fully with diocesan office of youth ministry Participate and create fundraising events to help fund the many needs of youth and young adult ministry Other duties as assigned by pastor and direct supervisors of ministry, including recruiting and training youth volunteers. Ensures that all adults over the age of 18 are in compliance with child safety, as per the diocesan guidelines.

Hours:

Total of 15 hours per week 4.5 hrs

  • 2:30pm
  • 7pm on Thursday evenings 2.5 hrs
  • 6:30pm
  • 9pm on Monday evenings 4 hrs
  • once monthly on Sunday evenings The remainder of that time is to be in the office Qualifications A fully initiated active member of the Roman Catholic Church with no impediment to the reception of the Sacraments.

Has a desire and passion to work with and for youth and young adults. Demonstrates a sound contemporary ecclesiology and understanding of the Catholic Faith. Visible member of the parish community. Understands the scriptural and theological foundations of evangelization and the call to discipleship. Continues personal education through appropriate classes and workshops Must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily Education and/or Experience

B.A / B.S

in youth ministry, theology or other relevant areas

  • preferred but not required. Certification in Catechesis or Youth Ministry from an accredited/reputable organization or working towards certification
  • required. Experience working with youth and/or young adults
  • minimum of 2 years
  • preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of Diocesan Policies and the USCCB documents on Renewing the

Vision:

A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry and the 8 components of ministry with adolescents.

Pay Range:

$20
