Part – Time Pastor Job Description Worship Services Delivers sermons in clear logical manner that effectively uses Scripture and expounds the Gospel Delivers children’s messages that are understood by and meaningful to children, if present in worship Leads inspirational and insightful prayer that supports the needs of the community Works with Director of Music and Church Leadership to provide music that complements the worship theme of each service Discusses creative ideas with Church Leadership for the worship service Provides opportunities and training and encourages involvement of the congregation in worship leadership roles Plans and conducts inspirational special services (Maundy Thursday, Ash Wednesday, Christmas Eve, and the like) Rites of the Church Performs baptisms, weddings, and funerals with preparation, counseling, and decorum appropriate for each as coordinated with the Church Leadership Congregational Education Sessions Leads study groups in the Bible, Congregational history and polity, and other topics, when needed Effectively plans and conducts confirmation and membership classes Participates in NACCC activities throughout the year, as needed Leadership and Guidance Provides spiritual inspiration and guidance during periods of change in the life of the church Identifies and acts on opportunities to expand church membership and encourages the congregation to do the same Participates in church activities other than worship services and develops personal relationships with members Relates effectively to individuals who have different viewpoints, perspectives, and opinions Participates in monthly meetings with Church Leadership Administrative Implements recommendations and requests and abides by decisions made by Leadership and committees that are in keeping with the overall mission of the church Effectively guides and helps focus Church Leadership and committees Interacts and communicates well with church staff Conducts business in a timely manner, meets deadlines, and provides accurate records Communication and preparation of material Provide timely communication to Church Leadership and the Church Office Prepares Seasonal letters to the Congregation (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas), as needed Prepares other written materials as requested by Church Leadership
