Purpose:

Sacred Heart Academy seeks a full-time, 12-month Campus Minister position to serve as a spiritual leader in our Catholic faith community. The campus minister is central to Sacred Heart Academy’s mission as an all-girls Catholic High school sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph , rooted in the Gospel of Jesus and committed to love, unity, justice, peace, and God’s inclusive love. The Campus Minister will offer opportunities for spiritual growth and the empowerment of young women, helping students deepen their faith and develop as compassionate, service-minded leaders. This role collaborates closely with the Theology Department to ensure that SHA’s Catholic identity is integrated throughout all aspects of school life. The Campus Minister will also work with the administration, faculty, staff, club moderators, and other campus ministers across the Diocese of Rockville Centre to provide excellent and relevant spiritual opportunities for students. Additionally, the Campus Minister will maintain active connections with the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and with colleagues in the three other CSJ-sponsored schools — Fontbonne Hall Academy, The Mary Louis Academy, and Academia Maria Reina —to align and enrich SHA’s programs in harmony with the broader CSJ community.

Job Description:

Liturgical Life & Prayer Plan and lead school-wide liturgies: Coordinate clergy, Mass materials (readings, prayers), participants (readers, ministers, altar servers, gift bearers), music and tech teams. Organize class-level liturgies in the chapel during Theology classes. Coordinate weekly Friday morning chapel Masses Schedule Confession and Lenten Prayer Services for Theology classes. Plan and lead special spiritual experiences Prepare and send daily morning prayer, aligned with special monthly themes Create and distribute seasonal prayer resources for faculty; host optional morning reflections for faculty, staff and students. Retreats & Faith Formation Plan and implement student retreats. Organize and lead faculty/staff retreats. Recruit, train, and schedule Eucharistic Ministers. Organize and plan all campus Masses throughout the year. Attend and collaborate in weekly Theology Department meetings. Community Engagement & Ministry Coordinate bereavement responses: Share community notices, send remembrance cards, maintain prayer list for end-of-year service, and update the “Tree of Life.” Represent SHA at diocesan events. Partner with other CSJ-sponsored schools and Sisters of Saint Joseph for events, liturgies, and initiatives. Participate in the March for Life and related advocacy events. Co-coordinate Virtus training with HR. Service & Justice Oversee student involvement in service opportunities, including chaperoning trips. Collaborate with the Multicultural Club moderator on the Heritage Assembly and similar programs. Serve on school committees. Advise CSJ Leaders club; coordinate visits with Sisters in the convent. Attend and promote CSJ-related events. Spiritual Presence & School Life Be a pastoral presence during lunch and dismissal times. Prepare welcome-back prayer service for faculty and staff. Provide invocations/opening prayers for school events.

Maintain prayerful visuals:

Bulletin boards, seasonal chapel displays, Advent wreaths/banners. Submit monthly activity report to the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:

Practicing Catholic with a strong personal faith and commitment to Gospel values, preferably active within the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field (Master’s preferred). Previous experience in youth ministry, retreat leadership, or campus ministry (2+ years preferred). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to connect with high school students and serve as a positive role model. Comfortable with public speaking, group facilitation, and event coordination.

Work Environment:

• Active participation in school events, occasional evening/weekend work required. • Works in an office, classrooms, churches, and off-campus locations for retreats/service trips.
