- Mandatory three-day training (weekdays, daylight hours).
Your Role Assist with daily patient care (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, etc.). Perform vital signs checks, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, EKGs, and more . Work rotating shifts (day, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays).
Career Ladder & Qualifications Patient Care Technician:
High school diploma + 1 year of experience OR enrollment in a
PT/OT/PA
program OR a Bachelor’s in health sciences.
Senior/Specialist PCT:
2 years of experience OR 1 year + PT/OT/PA program OR 1 year + Bachelor’s in health sciences.
Lead PCT:
3 years of experience + advanced patient care tasks. High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: 1 year of general healthcare experience, OR 6 months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion, OR Enrollment in a
PT/OT/PA
program or a related healthcare training program with at least one completed clinical rotation , OR Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field . Successful completion of the UPMC Patient Care Technician class . Successful completion of basic information system training .
Preferred:
Experience with microcomputers and familiarity with electronic health records.
Preferred:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification, or current enrollment in an EMT/Paramedic program.
Medication Access:
Limited to medication distribution to the nurse. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Required within 30 days of hire (must meet AHA standards with both a didactic and skills demonstration component).
Preferred:
