Job Description

Chaplain II (#021759) MacDougall Correctional Institution, Ridgeville (BERKELEY) Level 2 2.9 2.9 out of 5 stars Berkeley County, SC Job Responsibilities Under the direction and supervision of the regional chaplain, organizes, develops, implements, and monitors pastoral care service programs for the inmates. Services provided will include weekly worship sacraments, crisis counseling, individual and group pastoral counseling, visitation, religious education, and other related religious activities. The position requires working with religious volunteers from various denominational and faith groups. Works closely with institutional operations, programs, and administrative staff. Must successfully complete the required number of CPE requirements within the first 18 months of placement into the position.

Minimum and Additional Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

The equivalent of a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological school, additional clinical pastoral education and/or work experience in a clinical pastoral setting.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources). The equivalent of a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary and ordination as a priest, minister or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement. One (1) year of clinical pastoral education approved by the association for clinical pastoral counselors, the American association of pastoral counselors, the national association of catholic chaplains, or the national Jewish welfare board; and (1) one year of pastoral experience. Or the equivalent of a Bachelor of Divinity degree from an accredited Theological seminary and ordination as a priest, minister or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement with one (1) year of clinical pastoral education approved by the association for clinical pastoral counselors, the American association of pastoral counselors, the national association of catholic chaplains, or the national Jewish welfare board; and three (3) years of pastoral experience.
