Pastor First Baptist Church of Jedburg Summerville, SC 29483 Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastor to lead our congregation in spiritual growth and community service. The ideal candidate will serve as the chief under-shepherd and overseer of this local church – First Baptist Church of Jedburg, providing spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, and pastoral care. This individual is called to nurture, guide, and empower the congregation to grow in faith and fulfill God’s purpose. The primary responsibilities include preaching God’s Word, leading ministry efforts, and fostering unity within the church community.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Divinity Degree (or equivalent) or relevant training/experience that qualifies one to lead and administer a Christ-focus church.

A personal testimony of conversion and a clear calling to pastoral ministry. Licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel. Demonstrates spiritual maturity, integrity, and authenticity. A passion for sharing Christ and discipling others. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to inspire and motivate others. Effective preaching and teaching capabilities. A heartfelt love and commitment to the local church. Genuine empathy and care for the needs and concerns of the congregation.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Preach and Teach:
Regularly proclaim the Word of God through sermons and teaching opportunities.
Provide Leadership:
Oversee church staff and ministries, offering vision and guidance for church growth and development.
Equip and Empower:
Motivate, nurture, and equip the church community to grow in their faith and service.
Spiritual Discipline:
Dedicate time to prayer and Bible study to remain spiritually grounded.
Pastoral Care:
Visit and support hospitalized or grieving members and offer spiritual counseling.
Ceremonial Functions:
Officiate weddings, funerals, and other significant ceremonies.
Church Unity:
Facilitate reconciliation, promote unity, and manage conflicts within the church.
Evangelism:
Lead outreach efforts through preaching, invitations, and community engagement.
Financial Integrity:
Model responsible financial stewardship to maintain personal credibility and reflect positively on the church.
Collaborative Leadership:
Partner with committees, ministry teams, and church leadership to achieve ministry goals.
Ordinances:
Lead the observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Denominational Engagement:
Actively represent the church in local, state, and other matters, while keeping the congregation informed of relevant developments.
