Music Minister Job Description Job Expectations:

As a professional musician, the Music Minister shall be responsible for all choir assemblies, service music, and special music that takes place during worship. The Music Minister will arrange choir rehearsals for both choir and praise musicians. The Music Minister will also notify the church secretary of music selections so that the bulletin can be updated.

Additional expectations:

• The Music Minister shall be responsible for any children’s or youth music programs including VBS.
• The Music Minister shall plan and arrange for anthems and other special music at both regularly scheduled and special services (Ex. Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Etc.)
• The Music Minister shall be available for consultation on music for weddings and funerals when held in the BSUMC facility.

He / She

should also be available to assist members with the planning of such events, should there be a request to do so.

• The Music Minister will also be responsible for the church library of music, request funds to purchase new music, and notifying the trustees of when musical instrument repairs and tuning need to take place.
• The Music Minister will personally be responsible for piano and/or organ accompaniment for regular weekly church services and rehearsals
• The Music Minister will be available for weekly/ monthly staff meetings Qualifications Strong leadership abilities to guide and inspire the music ministry team Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and engagement Experience in teaching music and related subjects Proven mentoring skills to support and develop choir members Background in music performance or education is preferred Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment for worship and learning
