St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church lives into the “via media” — the middle way between Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. Our worship is broad church, praising God primarily with hymns from The Hymnal 1982 and numerous hymnals approved for Sunday worship by The Episcopal Church. We worship in a traditional manner, recognizing that music unites and draws us closer to God. Our lovely, modern sanctuary houses a two-manual Allen Organ with a MIDI drawer, which provides an added multi-faceted set of digital samplings. Also in this space are a 5-foot Schimmel piano, a Yamaha Clavinova, a Yamaha upright, and a 3-octave+ set of Malmark Handbells. There is a separate space for rehearsals with a Yamaha upright, as well. We are seeking a talented Music Minister who is experienced in serving as the choirmaster and organist. As used in The Episcopal Church, music in the Anglican tradition requires an organist who is well-versed in various musical genres to lead our congregation and adult volunteer choir in sung worship each Sunday. This position is a part-time, entry-level staff position with flexible work hours (approximately 15-17 hours per week). A successful candidate will be familiar with the Episcopal liturgical tradition, be a strong choral director, be self-motivated, and work collaboratively with the clergy to grow and enhance St. Christopher’s Music Ministry.
