$47.2K•$58K a year 10 hours ago Qualifications 3 years Bachelor’s degree Computer skills Senior level Leadership Communication skills Full Job Description The Avenue South Next Generation + Preschool/Children’s Minister is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Campus + Teaching Pastor, for implementing and evaluating a comprehensive discipleship strategy for Preschoolers through High School students and for championing the church/home partnership at the Avenue South Campus. This position will supervise and lead the Avenue South Preschool & Children’s Ministries, and coordinate Student volunteers and/or staff. The role is also designed to maintain the vision determined by the church for encouraging and equipping all families to make the home the center of godly influence. The Next Gen + Preschool/Children’s Minister must align the ministries he/she oversees with the overall mission of the church while working with age-graded ministers and volunteers in developing appropriate venues for connecting others to Christ through gospel conversations, groups, going, gathering, and giving.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
may include but are not limited to the following: Grow spiritually and model to the church, staff, leaders, and parents a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Equip and lead the ministerial and administrative staff that serves in our age-graded ministries of Preschool Ministry (birth through kindergarten), Children’s Ministry (grade 1 through grade 5) and Student Ministry (grade 6 through grade 12). Work with each age-graded ministry to ensure that the transition years of adolescent development and growth are recognized, celebrated, and families are best equipped. Oversee the structures that support the preschool, children, and student ministries, including strategic goals (reviewed semi-annually), budgets (reviewed monthly and annually), and use of facilities for ministerial purposes. Identify the needs of children and their families within the church family and larger community to which the church ministers. Create and implement a strategic plan for the spiritual formation & discipleship of all children and adult leadership that is aligned with the mission, vision, objectives and goals of Brentwood Baptist Church. Give full support to our families and the broader Next Gen Team as we encourage, support, and challenge our parents to be the primary disciplers of their children. Plan specific ministry activities and programs to meet the needs of preschool/children and their families. Ensure that all Next Gen educational materials are Biblically-based and age-appropriate. Coordinate recruiting, screening, and training of all children’s workers, adhering to MinistrySafe Spaces and guidelines adopted by Brentwood Baptist, and appropriately tracking the steps through Ministry Platform Ensure that all workers (paid and volunteer) and parents understand and adhere to the policies and procedures Give planning, direction, and ultimate leadership to ministry catalyst events such as Vacation Bible School, camp, and mission efforts. Provide pastoral care for lay leadership and families in the preschool/children’s ministry, including spiritual matters (salvation, baptism, etc.) and personal and/or family matters including pregnancy, adoption, miscarriage, births, and/or parent and child dedications. Oversee the needs of the childcare ministry of the church, coordinating childcare for church events, groups, and managing paid and volunteer childcare workers.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
may include but are not limited to the following: Serve as an important contributing member of the ministerial team at the Avenue South campus, carrying out the calling and roles of a team member however called upon. Effectively communicate and work alongside campus administrative assistants, who will assist with day-to-day work. Pray with and for all staff members on a regular basis and hold staff members accountable for personal spiritual and ministerial growth (self-development plan). Attend all required staff meetings and complete forms and reports in a timely and concise manner. Be available for development opportunities as directed by the pastors or supervisor. Be available to serve the church as a decision counselor, pastoral counselor, and on-call minister (as assigned). Collaborate/Participate with Next Gen, Preschool and Children’s ministers for monthly meetings. Collaborate with the Communications Team to be sure that our strategy and opportunities are documented and available to the church on a timely basis through print, web, and other social media outlets. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
: A mature Christian who is growing in their personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer and service. A personal sense of calling from God to vocational Christian ministry in general and to this area of ministry. An understanding of next gen ministries as important and foundational ministries of the church. Ability to lead a staff and volunteer teams by casting vision and organizing the skills and talents of those team members. Ability to relate well to parents of children birth through high school. A willingness to be a “team player” both within the staff, church, and community for Kingdom purposes. Effective communicator, both written and verbal. Proficiency in basic computer skills and software systems. Can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy, and methodology of Brentwood Baptist Church. A mature Christian who is demonstrates the Fruits of the Spirit, is growing in their faith and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer. The proven ability to identify, equip and lead a team of volunteers. Ability to collaborate, cooperate and function well in a team environment. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university is required. Seminary training preferred, but not required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading in a church setting. All campuses function under the governance of Brentwood Baptist Church. Each campus is an established entity operating as a whole and permanent part of the Brentwood Baptist. Each maintains pre-determined alignment characteristics that uphold the Brentwood Baptist “DNA” while also containing some contextualized characteristics to allow it to best reach its target local community. Every staff member is an employee of Brentwood Baptist.
