Posted 2 weeks ago First Baptist Church Fairview Part/Full Time Youth & Young Adult Pastor/Director 7310 Overbey Rd, Fairview, TN (615) 799-9478 Position Overview The Youth & Young Adult Pastor(s)/Director(s) at First Baptist Church Fairview (FBCF) will develop a spiritual ministry to teach and reinforce the biblical teachings of God the Father. This position will be part-time or full-time depending on the qualifications, work experience, and personal qualities of the candidate under consideration. The Youth Pastor(s)/Director(s) is/are spiritually accountable for young men and/or young women students in the sixth through twelfth grades, as well as Young Adults up to the age of 23. The ideal candidate(s) is/are passionate towards the creation and execution of a Christian environment which facilitates relationship, service, and the study of the Bible. This position is seeking to acquire the ideal candidate(s) for either a part-time, full-time, or hybrid working situation that is willing to serve in a vibrant and rapidly expanding community for many years to come. The Youth and Young Adult Pastor(s)/Director(s) may on occasion attend committee meetings on behalf of the Senior Pastor, and aid the ministry needs of the church. It is estimated the job duties will be approximately 90% youth related and 10% churchwide ministry oriented. The Youth & Young Adult Pastor(s)/Director(s) is/are administratively overseen by the Senior Pastor and will be responsible to collectively design programing that is congruent with the Children’s Pastor/Director. Spiritual programing will be developed in a way that is philosophically aligned with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000 ), and consistent with First Baptist Fairview’s Mission, “Know, Grow, and Go,” and Vision, “We glorify God by knowing Jesus Christ through: An Intimate and Personal Relationship with God, By studying God’s Word Continually, Faithfully living God’s commands, and Making disciples of all people.” Required Qualifications Evidence of a personal relationship with Christ and evidence of concern for spiritual development on a daily basis. The candidate will have invited Christ into his life, been Baptized, and be willing to join FBCF if not already a member. Further evidence will be in the form of daily Bible Study, a strong prayer life, and service to God through being active in outreach ministries.
Possession of a high school or a general educational development diploma.
The possession of a college degree.
A minimum of three years of work experience.
Upon successful hire, transfer of church membership to FBCF. Ideal Credentials, Experience, Skills & Qualifications If a Pastor, you must embody the leadership qualifications outlined in I Timothy 3:1-7, and must be ordained or eligible to be ordained.
College degree with a focus on Christian education, counseling, or theological training preferred.
If no college degree, needs to have accredited training or certification that is Christian and/or biblically based.
Church work experience, preferably in a Southern Baptist denomination.
Approachable and exudes a spirit of volunteerism
Self-starter that is creative, well organized, and attentive to details.
Comfortable speaking to large groups of people, with the possibility of providing sermons to the church congregation on an ad hoc basis.
Cultivates a safe and respectful environment to learn and grow in God’s Kingdom.
Displays compassion, instills inspiration, and spiritually motivates individuals and groups of people.
Able to connect and maintain relationships in an ethically moral, spiritually responsible, and extroverted way.
Although not a requirement for employment, those without a seminary or theological degree will be considered. However, if the applicant does not possess this type of degree; the candidate will be required to enroll, continue, and complete a spiritual/theological training program that is accredited and aligns with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000 ). Position Expectations Develop a strategic plan that coincides with the mission and vision of FBCF and the Senior Pastor.
Create at least three annual goals of the FBCF Youth & Young Adult program.
Evaluate the effectiveness of those three goals on an annual basis.
Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and members.
Be an active participant in church congregational services, meetings, and activities; as well as attend community and school related events.
Attend and participate in Sunday School programing.
Recruit Sunday School teachers and volunteers, while working in tandem with the church office to properly vet those volunteers using a standard operating procedure that has an application, interview, and criminal background check process.
Develop at least two annual Sunday School leadership training and teaching events
Plan, arrange, and/or coordinate one annual mission opportunity.
Plan, coordinate, and personally attend at least two Youth ministry program retreats with one being in the Fall or Winter, and the other being Summer camp.
Work with the finance committee of FBCF to submit an annual budget and actively manage the youth ministry funds effectively.
Willingness to attend professional development trainings/seminars that are aligned conceptually with the mission/vision of the FBCF.
The candidate will be required to attend church staff meetings as assigned.
Follow-up with first-time guests/families as well as those guest/families that have an irregular attendance record. Compensation Compensation and the designation of the position title [i.e., pastor(s) or director(s)] will be based on the work experiences and credentials of the applicant. The basis of the position title will be defined in accordance with the FBCF bylaws.
