AA degree is required with at least 2+ years working with at-risk/mental health children. The Shift Leader is responsible for providing care and treatment as outlined in the client’s treatment plan and functions as a member of the client’s treatment team as outlined in the policy and procedures manual. The Shift Leader will provide leadership to direct care staff on the assigned work shift.
Functions in role of shift lead and provides oversight on assigned shifts
Assists Unit Supervisor in establishing and supervising daily structure and routine procedures Implements cottage activities of daily living to include: wake up and bedtime routine, meal time, and maintains a clean, inviting, safe, and orderly environment
Maintains clients’ personal hygiene, cleanliness, grooming, clothing and adheres to infection control procedures and practices universal precautions
Escorts clients safely to activities or appointments on or off campus as needed
Adheres to established guidelines for observing clients on special precautions
Coaches recreational activities to role model and encourage client participation
Consistently follows proper guidelines and procedures for intervening with aggressively physical clients
Ensures that all staff complete assigned duties and document accordingly
Audits all direct care documentation, to include daily progress notes & group logs, to ensure accuracy, required signatures and completion in a timely manner
Plans, conducts, organizes and assigns staff to program activities during shift
Completes client admissions or assigns a staff to complete

  • check and double check belongings for contraband, send inappropriate items and luggage home with legal guardian
    Assign Special Counselor to new clients within 48 hours of admission
    Assist in training residential counselor’s on Special Counselor duties and responsibilities Complete Special Counselor audits in 10e11 weekly
  • review and ensure that Special Counselor notes, milieu notes and TPU’s are in the chart weekly
    Assist Special Counselor with client birthday celebrations
    Complete weekly chore list for clients
    Train, role model, and complete documentation for new Residential Counselors during initial 80 hours of job shadowing
    Ensure all staff are actively participating in shift pass down and relaying important information regarding each client
    Ensure and review that daily meal roster and monthly meal count is completed and given to Unit Supervisor
    Assists Unit Supervisor in posting the monthly training calendar in the unit
    Assists Units Supervisor with sending training reminders for Residential Counselors and ensure training requisitions are sent to HR in a timely manner
    Bulletin Boards•assign staff, with client assistance, to keep up to date
    Assist Unit Supervisor with ensuring at least three room searches are completed randomly on each shift
    Assist with scheduling van testing with facilities for new Residential Counselors Assist and/or assign staff to order and mange weekly condiments from the kitchen
    Provide information on census obtained and given to the appropriate department.

Assumes duties of Unit Supervisor as delegated by the Associate Program Director in the absence of the Unit Supervisor
Participate in staff interviews, when needed, for leadership training Models appropriate and professional behavior (i.e., dress, habits, personality, tact, etc.)
Relates with clients, parents, peers and the general public in a respectful and professional manner in person and phone interaction.
Recognizes and reports signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.
When Unit Supervisor is out of office, ensure new hire paperwork for Residential Counselors is sent to HR within one week
Assist and/or facilitate Team Meeting bi-monthly Assist with staff supervision when requested from Unit Supervisor
Assist with input on yearly evaluations with Unit Supervisor
Performs other duties that may be assigned

Requirements:

Associates Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
Valid Florida driver’s license in good standing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer knowledge
Strong organizational skills
Physical Demands
The employee will be required to talk, hear and see; be able successfully complete Crisis Prevention training which requires physical components, including bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting, to ensure the safety of clients and staff; stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
