Home Repair Associate Habitat for Humanity – 4.1 Asheville, NC Job Details $20.70 an hour 22 hours ago Qualifications Residential construction High school diploma or GED Driver’s License Power tools Mathematical aptitude Communication skills Teaching Entry level Full Job Description To be successful in this role applicant must have great communication skills, be comfortable working and teaching with power tools, must be able to comfortably lift over 50 lbs. Applicant also must be comfortable climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Home Repair Associate will assist in the day-to-day operation of Home Repair projects. This Staff Member will be part of the Home Repair Team and will support the Project Supervisors. Work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; pay rate is $20.70/hr.

Responsibilities:

Assist with hands-on construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping. Working in conjunction with the Home Repair Site Supervisor, purchase needed materials for Home Repair project site(s). Act as project team leader when needed or as assigned for certain Home Repair projects. Help ensure positive experiences for volunteers and AmeriCorps members while on the work sites. Help to maintain site safety by following safety practices and guidelines. Help with materials management on site and at the affiliate warehouse. Set-up and break-down group project sites. Participate in regularly scheduled Team meetings. Assist where necessary in other Construction Services activities. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Commitment to the mission and values of AAHH. High School diploma or equivalent, preferred. Valid driver’s license with good driving record, preferred. Effective interpersonal skills with a variety of people, personalities and backgrounds. Able to give specific oral and written instructions and directions to individuals and groups. Able to analyze circumstances, make routine decisions, problem solve, and give direction regarding problem resolution. Able to use hand and power tools needed to complete residential construction and repair tasks and instruct others on their effective and safe use. Able to climb ladders and work in crawl space. Possesses basic mathematical aptitude to calculate building measurements, quantities, etc. Stand or walk for the majority of a work day, including working on uneven surfaces. Apply extensive physical mobility, including reaching, lifting, holding, pushing and pulling, carrying, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension. Regularly lift 10 – 35 pounds: Occasionally 75 pounds or more. See and judge distances and space relationships. Independently operate motor vehicles. Please use the link below to apply.
