SummaryThe Area Coordinator is a live-in, full-time professional staff member who is part of the Office of Residential Life and the Residential Experience team at Skidmore College. The Area Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of select residence halls and apartments and the Resident Assistants and Community Assistants who serve our students. The Area Coordinator is provided with a two-bedroom apartment on campus that includes a washer and dryer unit. Pets and partners are permitted with prior approval. Please note that this position has a two-year term limit with the opportunity for renewal. Primary Job Duties Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate 10-14 Resident Assistants (RA) and one Community Assistant (CA). Meet bi-weekly with each RA and weekly with each CA to provide support and on-going feedback, and discuss student issues and behaviors,munity trends, programs and facilities concerns. Facilitate bi-weekly team meetings. Coach RAs in responding to student issues, including roommate conflicts and individual physical, emotional, or psychological concerns. Manage the RA on-duty process and other team management administrative functions. Manage daily operations for designated residence halls and apartment buildings including routine walkthroughs, inspections and reporting of facilities concerns. Assist with housing operations to include residence hall openings and closings, room changes and data management through StarRez. Assist with the development, planning, and implementation of fall and spring student staff training and on-going in-service training. Assist with the housing selection process for new and returning students. Attend and participate in weekly residential life staff meetings, weekly housing operations team meetings, Student Affairs division meetings, college-wide staff meetings, etc. Engage in a collateral project area to include diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, health and wellness, student conduct andmunity standards, and student leadership and learning. Chair a departmentmittee to includes areas such as student staff recruitment, selection and training and social media andmunications. Support the department through summer assignments that may include summer student housing oversight, first-year experience partnership, housing operations, etc. Participate in the Residential Life On-Call (RLOC) rotation: respond to serious incidents/emergencies on campus, advise RAs in responding to incidents or potential policy violations in the residence halls and apartments, assist Campus Safety in crisis response. Adjudicate alleged violations of college policy and follow-up on other student concerns utilizing Maxient. Support students of concern and make appropriate referrals utilizing on-campus resources. Participate in Collegemittees, searchmittees, trainings and development opportunities, as appropriate. Serve as a source of information about the College and its resources to prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, families, and others. Collaborate with campus partners to execute programs to enhance the residential experience.

Education:

Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration or related area of study

Experience:

Experience living and working in a residentialmunity Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students and staff Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal,munication, customer service, and conflict management skills Program and/or project development experience Two or more years of related work experience at time of hire (graduate or professional level) preferred

Salary:
