Posting Text Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Assistant Director is a 12-month live off or on position that reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and serves as part of the Central Office Leadership Team in Residence Life. The Assistant Director will develop, implement, coordinate, and assess various department processes and committee work (listed below). They will participate in all departmental planning and decision making while working collaboratively with various campus partners to help foster an environment for our students to achieve their academic goals. Review will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for this position is July 2025. Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the
Job:
Opportunity to train, supervise, and evaluate the professional Residence Hall Directors in Residence Life (supervision dependent on interest and experience)
Plan, manage, and execute department functions:
Resident Assistant Training
Resident Assistant Selection
Resident Assistant Student Engagement Model
Resident Assistant Appreciation & Recognition Run the department social media account in conjunction with the Central Office team
Serve as a conduct hearing officer and assist in managing residential conduct
Serve as a member of the Behavioral Evaluation Committee
Serve as a representative for Residence Life on College committees (to include but not limited to Welcome Weekend, Winterfest, etc)
Evening and weekend work is expected related to the department processes and emergency/crisis response rotation
Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and initiatives for residential students
Required Qualifications:
Completed Bachelor’s degree and completed, or in progress of, Master’s degree
Two years of full-time professional experience working with college students in a Higher Education setting
Supervision experience (student supervision may be considered)
Experience in crisis management (emergency response, conflict mediation, responding to medial or mental health emergencies, fire alarms, etc)
Experience in Residence Life functions such as RA Training, RA Selection, and/or RA Community Development and Engagement
Excellent administrative and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously in a team atmosphere

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s in Higher Education or related field
Two years of full-time experience as full-time Residence Life staff
Prior experience supervising professional or graduate staff
Previous social media experience
Experience executing a Residential Education Model
Student conduct adjudication experience
