Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Full-time $18.40 – $28.59 an hour 19 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Driver’s License Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description Residential Aides provide clinical treatment to adults (18+) in a short- or long-term residential drug and alcohol program at WPIC. Residents typically have substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders and meet criteria for Level 3 residential care. The program uses a recovery-oriented model based on therapeutic milieu, 12-step principles, and psychiatric rehabilitation when appropriate. It follows a Housing First and Harm Reduction philosophy, meeting individuals where they are in their recovery. Widely recognized across Allegheny County, the program is known for delivering high-quality care to individuals with behavioral health and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:

Resident Support & Life Skills Teach daily living, hygiene, and social skills. Support recovery through education on addiction and mental health. Provide emotional support and behavioral guidance. Community Engagement Accompany and transport residents to off-site activities. Connect residents with community recovery resources. Group Facilitation Lead recovery, educational, and support groups. Facilitate daily meetings and structured group activities. Safety & Crisis Management Ensure unit safety through rounds and crisis intervention. Conduct contraband checks and secure belongings. Documentation & Confidentiality Maintain clear, accurate records of resident behavior and incidents. Uphold confidentiality in all communications. Teamwork & Training Collaborate with treatment team on resident care. Complete required training and participate in professional development. High School Graduate or GED required. Knowledge and experience working with substance use disorders and dual disorders preferred. Familiarity with 12 Step Program required. Experience working within a therapeutic milieu (behavioral health) setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work with residents in the program and in collaboration with other staff members as required. Ability to make decisions quickly and under stressful circumstances to prevent crisis situations required. Ability to work flexible hours to include early morning, evening, nights and weekend hours when required. Safe driving record required. CPR training or willingness to train required. May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
