Advertised Job Summary The Residence Life Coordinator is a member of the Student Development Staff at USCB and reports directly to the Assistant Director of Housing and Student Conduct. The Residence Life Coordinator is a live-in position and is specifically responsible for the oversight of the Beaufort campus residential community and serves as a point of contact for residential students. The Residence Life Coordinator provides high level customer service and direct supervision of different types of student staff to facilitate the development of communities, foster a sense of belonging, promote health and wellbeing, and support the residents’ learning.
The Residence Life Coordinator will also serve as a Student Success Coach and work to support the retention efforts of the university by helping students to build skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to success, retention, and completion. The success coach will provide one-on-one holistic support aimed at helping USCB students navigate the first year of their collegiate experience. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous supervision, advisement and development experience for student staff and leaders
Genuine Interest and enthusiasm for direct student interaction with a demonstrated understanding of student learning and success
Strong customer service, critical thinking, consensus building, and problem-solving skills
Experience with StarRez Housing Software, Maxient Judicial Software, Banner, or similar systems
Prior experience with on-call emergency response practices in a university setting
Experience and/or background in crisis management, and student development Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must possess good knowledge of the overall principles, policies, and general practices of office management. Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. In addition, must be able to learn other software applications as needed. Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and able to handle fast paced and intense environment where you will be asked to think critically when solving issues. Excellent customer services skills and a willingness to be proactive in solving student concerns. Job Duty

  • Supervise, train, evaluate and select one Assistant Resident Director and Resident Assistant staff that can range from 3-4 students.
  • Direct residence hall engagement efforts to offer residential students a diverse range of topics, both social and educational. Oversee a programming budget to include serving as a purchasing card (p-card) holder.
  • Oversee RA training, RA In-service, and engagement efforts to provide sufficient contact between the Office of Housing & Student Conduct and the residential population.
  • Serve on committees or collateral assignments to support specialized project areas related to the success of the departmental and division, including (but not limited to) orientations, training and staff development, programming, communications, summer conference housing, and staff recruitment and selection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including support for Division for Student Development wide projects and initiatives including new student orientation, student success initiatives, and university events/traditions. Essential Function

  • Serve as a student conduct hearing officer, including facilitate student conduct meetings, decide responsibility, issue and follow up on sanctions, and maintain records with Maxient. Assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from housing issues brought forth by students, parents, or by referral from the community. Utilize customer service skills via phone, email, and individual contact.
  • Live-on campus in a furnished apartment and participate in on-call duty rotation with other professional Housing staff. Essential Function

  • Provide student case management and comprehensive support for first-year students including academic, career, and personal support through connection to a broad network of internal and external services.
  • Promote academic and personal success by responding to student challenges that are identified through early alerts, student of concern reports, EdSights Chatbot insights, and other external and internal systems.
  • Identify current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g. study skills, tutoring), and refer students to appropriate campus resources for assistance.
  • Teach students how to problem solve by identifying alternative options as they relate to their life and career goals
  • Connect students to USCB events/activities in order to increase student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records in the appropriate university system on each student in the coaches caseload.
